Thousands of BUK Students Apply to work as INEC Ad-hoc Staff – 2019 Election

Last week SUG president of Bayero University Kano the person of Comr. Salenco announced the collection of form of INEC Ad-hoc Staff to all students who might be interested Which really result to much turn out from all Student.

According to the school Weekly bulletin which was released dated 04/01/2019 make it known to the public that thousands of the institution students has applied to work as INEC ad-hoc staff for the forth coming 2019 election coming up by February

As stated below

As part of preparation for the 2019 general elections,
BUK students have shown their readiness to assist by coming out en masse to collect and fill in nomination forms for INEC ad-hoc staff screening.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter dated 17 December, 2018 requested BUK to mobilize both staff and students willing/desirous to participate in the forthcoming 2019
general election as ad-hoc staff.

The exercise, which commenced on Monday, December, 2018 at the Deanery of Student Affairs, had been arranged on ‘first come first served basis’.

In addition, only students with valid student identity cards were issued the forms. Successful applicants will serve only in the 44 local governments of Kano State,
depending on INEC’s decision.

After the application, INEC will fix a date for screening and training of the ad-hoc staff later.

It may be recalled that the INEC in its effort to conduct a free, fair and credible election usually collaborates with the Nigerian universities to source for professional staff who serve as their ad-hoc staff.

While supervising the exercise, the Dean of
Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsuddeen Umar, stated that proper arrangement was made to ensure that genuine and non-partisan students were recruited.

He added that the strategy employed in
distributing the forms had contributed immensely in the smooth conduct of the distribution exercise.

He pointed further that Student Affairs had
provided 21 collection points for the distribution of the forms, which made the work easier, such that neither the staff nor the students suffered during the distribution/collection of the forms.

Both the SUG President, Comrade Salisu Haruna Salenco, and the SUG PRO, Comrade Mahraz Abdullahi Muhammad, expressed satisfaction with the arrangement so far made by the University.
